A new Finnish innovation was developed to fight the pandemic – a Hands-free handle made of recycled plastic.

Made out of Fortum Circo®, a versatile recycled raw material produced from consumer plastic packaging waste that is sorted and collected from Finnish households, the handle gives waste plastic a new life while protecting people. It’s a simple add-on to existing door handles, allowing people to open doors with their arms, minimizing touching the handles with their palms and fingers.

The handle was covered in 159 media outlets and it reached over 242 million people, with an earned media value of 2.2M€. Moreover, Fiskars, a global lifestyle brand company with sales in over 100 countries started producing Fortum Circo Handle and exploring opportunities to use Circo in other products as well.
