Web browser Opera is the personal browser for personal stuff. Thus, we opened a position for the coolest job in the world: Personal Browser – someone to browse the web and share their experience with the world.

At the end of 2020 Opera opened a position for the coolest job in the world – Personal Browser – who would have one important mission: to surf the far corners of the web. The winning candidate would be compensated with $9,000 for the two-week personal browsing stint. 

The campaign reached over 2 million people worldwide and nearly 1000 applications were submitted to the position, attracting even the attention of influencers.

An American YouTuber, Gabe Helmy was chosen for the position as the Personal Browser – the main star of the experimental web series “Wild Wild Web”. The series consisted of a total of 6 episodes that demonstrated the different wacky sides of the internet.
